The Potomac Yard neighborhood lies between Route 1 and the George Washington Parkway north of Slaters Lane and south of a small body of water known as Four Mile Run. Four Mile Run marks the boundary between the City of Alexandria and Arlington County and thus Potomac Yard lies entirely within Alexandria.
Potomac Yard Shopping Center occupies 70 acres of what was 400-acres of Potomac Yard train depot. The Yellow and Blue Metro rails travel north and south here running along GW Parkway. The Potomac Yard neighborhood includes numerous newly built and to-be-built townhomes just north of Slaters Lane and south of the Potomac Yard Retail Center.
In this site we also provide information about Potomac Greens and Old Potomac Greens which is a very similar community that was recently built along the same stretch of metro rail. Potomac Greens lies just to the east of the metro rail between the train lines and the GW Parkway. The neighborhood is bounded to the south by Old Town Crescent, another enclave of newly built townhomes.
