Little Farms Garden Club of Potomac Celebrates 60th Anniversary

The Little Farms Garden Club of Potomac celebrated its 60th Anniversary with a brunch at Congressional Country Club on Oct. 7. Using the theme “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (which also has its 60th anniversary this year), the planning committee designed centerpieces, programs, a menu card, and filled Tiffany gift bags with party favors. Over 40 members attended, all dressed to emulate Katherine Hepburn’s role of Holly Golightly, so there was a lot of sparkle and glitter. Glenstone In Potomac Holds Faith Ringgold Monographic Exhibition

Glenstone Museum in Potomac will be the only U.S. museum to host a major monographic exhibition of more than 70 works by American artist Faith Ringgold (b. 1930, Harlem, NY), including nine from the Glenstone collection, as part of a two-year international tour organized by the Serpentine in London. Titled Faith Ringgold, the traveling show will open at Glenstone this spring, following a presentation at the Bildmuseet in Umeå, Sweden that closed in January. Cabin John Park Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual Santa Run is underway. Every night for the next two weeks the department’s new fire engine will be transformed into a version of Santa’s Sleigh. Brightly decked out with flashing lights and sending music through local neighborhoods. Santa himself will be perched on top, waving to all who gather to return the wave and enjoy the seasonal tradition. Nimi Trehan Of Potomac Received Award of Excellence

Nimi Trehan, a long-time Potomac resident and artist was presented with an Award of Excellence for her painting, “Unwavering,” in the on-line exhibit The Spirit of Resilience presented by The Healing Power of Art and Artists, an initiative of Manhattan Arts International. The large, 40” x 60,” acrylic painting shows a stylized banyan tree of luminous greens, yellows, and blues against a blue-black background. Other flora flourishes beneath the prop roots.
